Music Technology
This course is designed to teach students how to use the MIDI workstation music software, "Print Music", for notation and the sequencing software, "Cubase", to create their own music. Students will also use the accompaniment sequencing software "Band in a Box".
Course Curriculum Content:
- Introduction to the equipment, synthesizers, software, MIDI and piano basics.
- Use of the notation software "Print Music" to reproduce songs and create original compositions.
- Rhythm notation and creation of drum beats for rock, punk, techno and swing.
- Use of "Band in a Box" (accompaniment sequencer) to create standard MIDI files.
- Advance uses of "Print Music" including real time entry and multi staff voicing.
- Create melodies with musical phrases and form
- Study and create Blues compositions.
- Use the sequencer software "Cubase" to create full-length musical compositions using multiple sounds and tracks.
- Present a final composition project to the class in any style demonstrating cumulative knowledge of course content.

- Daily Observations: 60%
- Compositions: 40%
