Music Appreciation

Daily Work:

  • Students are to have with them at all times some music of their choice.
    • I.E. CD, Tape, Record, 8-Track, Reel-to-Reel, i-Pod
  • Students must be prepared, on any day, at the end of the class to play their music and discuss the performer and music in detail. Something more than who they are.
    • Think about where the performer is from.
    • Think about the performers influences.
    • Think about why you like them.
  • Be prepared to discuss this and all other topics at hand.

The Project:

NOOOOOOOOOOO, Not The Project
Yes. The Project

  • 1.  Pick a musical artist that you like. That could be a performer, composer, writer or producer. Then do a presentation on him/her/them.......Easy right.
  • 2.  There should be at least two pages typed about this artist, this will be read in class. Think about:
    • The Style
    • The Time Frame
    • The Artists Background
    • Misc. Info
  • 3.  You also need a recording of this artist.

Make sure the recording and the paper are related together!!!
I.E. If you say that the artist is a blues artist and you tell me he is from the south and his fathers was blues player and he was inspired by the blues, then you better play a blues piece by the artist.

  • 4.  BE PREPARED TO DISCUSS ALL OF THIS.
